📖 Boost AI Search & Discovery lets you build filters from multi‑level collections. Organize products into nested groups (e.g., Department → Category → Sub‑category) and show them as filter options so customers can drill down quickly and find the right items.

Set up Multi-level Collections in Boost AI Search & Discovery

1. Access your Boost AI Search & Discovery dashboard from Shopify Admin's Apps.

2. On the top bar menu, hover to Filter > select Filter trees from the dropdown menu.

3. Now you should see lists of your filter trees, select by clicking an existing one that you'd like to add a Multi-level Collections filter option to or create a new Custom filter tree by following this article.

4. From the Filter tree's settings page, scroll down to the Filter options section > click + Add filter option.

⚠️ If there is already a Collection type Filter option existing in the Filter tree, it is not possible to create another one. Please proceed by selecting it then start customizing its settings by following the steps below:

5. A pop-up will allow you to set up your existing/new Filter option. Please make sure you select the following to apply Multi-level collections to it:

  • Option type: Collection

  • Option display: Multi-level collections

In this example, we apply Multi-level collections to an existing Filter tree.

6. You can start adding your collections from highest to lowest level by clicking Add new collection item (the second and third levels are tag).

  • Remove an item by clicking the "-" button

  • You can rearrange your collections along with their children's items by clicking the "" button and holding it to your desired position.

⚠️ The maximum number of levels you can create for your multi-level collections is 3.

7. Fill in other boxes to finish setting up your filter option.

💡 For the last two settings Keep filter option unchanged and Display "All" collection, please kindly visit this article to understand if you need them enabled or not.

8. Click Save to confirm adding the new filter option then click Save again to make sure it's published.

And you're set!
