Here is the guide for Shopify Combined Listings Integration with Boost AI Search & Discovery app.

πŸ“– Connect Boost AI Search & Discovery with Shopify Combined Listings to control how parent and child products appear in search, filters, and recommendations.

⚠️ Requirements

  • Available for TURBO users only

  • Store must be on a Shopify Plus plan (Combined Listings is a Shopify Plus feature)

  • Shopify Combined Listings app must be installed and enabled

  • Boost supports up to 1 parent product with a maximum of 50 child products (Shopify supports up to 60)

Overview

Shopify Combined Listings lets you group multiple related products under a single parent product. Each child product represents a distinct version β€” for example, a color or style β€” and variants still live within each child. This structure helps you manage complex catalogs while giving shoppers a cleaner browsing experience.

When you connect Boost to Combined Listings, Boost aligns with Shopify's parent-child product hierarchy so your search results, filters, and recommendations stay consistent with how your catalog is structured.

Note: Parent and child products are treated as independent entities with their own data. This affects how filters, search, and recommendations behave β€” see the feature behavior section below.

Connect Boost to Shopify Combined Listings

Follow these three steps to enable the integration:

Install the Combined Listings app

  2. Select the Others filter from the Integration type dropdown.

  3. Find the Shopify Combined Listings card and click Configure.

  4. On the settings page, toggle on Enable Boost x Shopify Combined Listings.

Feature behavior by product level

Once Combined Listings compatibility is enabled, each Boost feature operates at either the parent level, the child level, or both. Use the table below as a quick reference.

Feature

Product level

Key details

Product list on collection pages

Both (configurable)

Display parent only, child only, or both. Default: show both.

Filter

Both

Filters return results based on each product's own attributes. If a child has a Color option but its parent does not, filtering by Color returns the child only.

Search

Both (configurable)

AI Search works on both levels. Parent products have no sales data, so they are not prioritized in personalized ranking.

Merchandising

Both (rule-dependent)

Filter, Boost, Demote, and Hide rules apply at the child level when configured by attributes or metrics. If a rule uses an attribute available on both levels, it applies to both. Pin rules and rules set by product item are not affected.

A/B Testing

Not affected

No changes to A/B testing behavior.

Recommendations

Both (configurable)

Recommendation types that rely on sales data β€” FBT, Personalized, Recently purchased, Bestsellers, and Trending products β€” return child products only. Hand-picked recommendations can use parent products.

Bundle

Child product

Bundles can only be configured at the child product level.

Pre-order

Child product

Pre-order settings apply to child products only.

Back-in-Stock (BIS)

Child product

Back-in-Stock applies to child products only.

Analytics

Both

Revenue metrics are calculated at the child level. Product performance metrics (click rate, top products) are measured across both levels.

Markets (B2B & D2C)

Both

Parent and child products are independent. Each can be added to a market catalog separately, following Shopify's logic. Boost syncs and displays products based on how your store includes them in each market.

Swatches

Both

Parent product options appear in the Swatches menu and Visual Editor. You can build swatches from parent product options.

Add to cart / Select options

Both

If Show quick add to cart is selected, enabling Combined Listings automatically switches it to Show add to cart pop-up. Quick add is not available with Combined Listings.

Variants Display

Not supported

This feature is disabled when the Combined Listings app is in use.

Attributes available on both parent and child products:

Product title, Product description, Product type, Product category, Collection, Date added, Date published, Product tag, Newest arrivals, Most viewed, High amount of clicks.
