Shopify Combined Listings Integration Guide

Here is the guide for Shopify Combined Listings Integration with Boost AI Search & Discovery app.

Written by Thomas Ta

🚧 Beta: This feature is currently in beta. Behavior may change as we continue to improve it.

πŸ“– Connect Boost AI Search & Discovery with Shopify Combined Listings to control how parent and child products appear in search, filters, and recommendations.

⚠️ Requirements

  • Available for TURBO users only

  • Store must be on a Shopify Plus plan (Combined Listings is a Shopify Plus feature)

  • Boost supports up to 50 products per combined listing.

Overview

Shopify Combined Listings lets you group multiple related products under a single parent product.

When you connect Boost to Combined Listings, Boost follows Shopify's parent-child structure and inherits Shopify's logic so your search, filters, merchandising, and recommendations stay consistent with how your catalog is organized.

Note: Parent and child products are treated as independent entities with their own data. This affects how filters, search, merchandising and recommendations behave. See the feature behavior section below.

Connect Boost to Shopify Combined Listings

Follow these three steps to enable the integration.

Install the Combined Listings app

Install Shopify Combined Listings from the Shopify App Store to your store.

Enable the integration in Boost

  2. Select the Others filter from the Integration type dropdown.

  3. Find the Shopify Combined Listings card and click Configure.

  4. On the settings page, toggle on Enable Boost x Shopify Combined Listings.

Feature behavior by product level

Once Combined Listings compatibility is enabled, here is how each Boost feature behaves.

Feature

Key details

Markets (B2B & D2C)

Parent and child products are independent. Each can be added to a market catalog separately, following Shopify's logic.

⚠️ Known limitations on Combined Listings products: prices and price-based features (filtering by price, sorting by price, merchandising rules by price, recommendation filtering by price) currently work correctly only in your store's main currency. Multi-currency stores and Shopify B2B Markets will see incorrect prices and broken price-based features.

Filter

Filters return results based on each product's own attributes. If a child has a Color option but the parent does not, filtering by Color returns the child only. Results also depend on your collection page display setting.

Merchandising

  • For rules set up by specific products: the rule applies to the selected product (parent or child).

  • For rules set up using attributes or metrics: the rule applies to the product level where the data is available. If a rule uses an attribute available on both parent and child levels, it applies to both.

  • Parent products show a "Combined listing" label in product-item-based rules.

Product attributes available on both parent and child levels: Product title, Product description, Product type, Product category, Collection, Date added, Date publis

Search

Search results displayed on ISW and the search results page depend on your search results display setting. Parent products have no sales data, so they are not prioritized in personalized or performance-based ranking.

Recommendations

  • Recommendation results depend on your recommendation display settings.

  • Since parent products do not have sales data, all recommendation types that rely on sales data return child products only. Those are:

    • FBT

    • Personalized recommendation

    • Recently purchased

    • Bestsellers

    • Trending products (based on purchase events)

  • Recommendation filtering rules (same as Merchandising rules): if a rule is based on attributes available on both parent and child products, it can apply to both levels. Otherwise, it applies to the product level where the data is available.

Bundle

Bundles only apply to child products.

Pre-order

Pre-order only applies to child products.

Back-in-Stock (BIS)

The BIS form is shown only on regular product pages. On Combined Listings product pages, the BIS form is hidden.

Analytics

Revenue metrics are calculated at the child level. Product performance metrics (click rate, top products, click count) are measured across both levels.

Swatches

Parent product options appear in the Swatches menu and Visual Editor. You can build swatches from parent product options.

⚠️ Known limitations on Combined Listings products: Product images don't change when shoppers interact with swatch icons; swatches built from variant images may appear white or blank; the "Show matched variant image by filter option" setting is not supported.

Add to cart / Select options

If Show quick add to cart is selected, enabling Combined Listings automatically switches it to Show add to cart pop-up. Quick add is not compatible with Combined Listings.

Variants Display

This feature is disabled when the Combined Listings app is in use.

A/B Testing

No changes to A/B testing behavior.

Third-party apps on product cards (reviews, badges, wishlist)

Display depends entirely on the third-party app. If you see issues, please reach out to the corresponding app's support team.
