📖 The Voice Search feature in Boost AI Search & Discovery allows users to search for products by speaking directly into their device, providing a hands-free and convenient shopping experience. This innovative feature not only improves user engagement but also enhances overall customer satisfaction by making product searches quicker and more intuitive.

Why Use Voice Search?

Voice Search offers a range of benefits to your customers and your store:

Requirements

Supported Platforms:

  • Chrome Browser (Desktop and Mobile)

  • English language only

Where Voice Search is Available:

  1. Search page

  2. Collection search

  3. Desktop: Instant Search Widget (Overlay fullwidth)

  4. Mobile: Search bar with the return arrow


How to use Voice Search

To enable Voice Search

  1. In our app admin, go to Search > AI-powered Search > Voice Search.

  2. Toggle on Enable Voice Search.

  3. Click Save settings.

Ensure Microphone Access is enabled

In order for Voice Search to function properly, your users must have microphone access enabled on their device. Follow these steps to ensure proper configuration:

  1. Chrome Browser Permissions:

    • When using Chrome, ensure that users are prompted to allow microphone access when attempting Voice Search for the first time. You can guide users by explaining how to enable microphone access in their browser settings.

  2. Device Settings (Mobile):

    • On mobile devices, make sure users have granted permission for microphone usage in their device’s settings. They can go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and ensure microphone access is enabled for the Chrome browser.

Test Voice Search on Your Storefront

Once Voice Search is enabled in your Boost admin panel and your microphone settings are configured, it's time to test the feature on your storefront:

  1. Visit Your Storefront:

    • Navigate to your store's search page, collection page, or any area where Voice Search is implemented.

  2. Activate the Microphone:

    • Click the microphone icon located next to the search bar. This will activate the Voice Search feature.

  3. Speak Your Query:

    • Once the microphone is active, speak clearly into your device to search for a product.

    • Example: Say “black leather shoes” or “wireless headphones.”

  4. View Results:

    • After speaking your query, Voice Search will automatically process your request and display the relevant results on your storefront. You should now see the products or categories matching your spoken query.
