Approving your plan in Shopify

Why plan approval happens on Shopify's own screen, what happens if you skip it, and how to check whether your plan is active.

Written by Thomas Ta

📖 When you choose a plan during setup, Shopify asks you to approve the charge on its own screen. Selecting a plan and approving it are two different things, and it is easy to stop after the first one.

Why the approval happens on Shopify

Boost is billed through Shopify, not directly by us. Shopify requires you to approve any app charge on its own screen, so you are taken out of the Boost setup wizard for a moment to do that. This is normal, and it is how every Shopify app charge works.

After you approve, you are brought back to continue your setup. If you leave the approval screen without approving, come back to the Boost app and pick up where you left off.

You can skip it

Approving is not required to keep setting Boost up. You can close the approval screen and carry on, and you will not be charged. Your 21-day trial keeps running either way.

What you give up by skipping depends on your plan tier.

  • On the Launch tier, approving during your trial unlocks every premium feature for the rest of your trial. If you skip it, you stay on Launch features until your trial ends.

  • On the Convert and Accelerate tiers, you already have full access during your trial whether you approve or not. Approving does not add anything right now. What it does is keep that access after day 21.

For the full breakdown, see the feature table in Your 21-day trial, and what happens at the end.

Check whether your plan is active

  1. In your Boost app admin, go to Settings > Subscription.

  2. If a plan is active, it is shown as your current package. If you selected a plan but never approved it, no plan is active.

  3. To finish, choose your plan again and approve the charge when Shopify asks.
