Overview
The Countdown Timer feature helps you create urgency and boost conversions by displaying a live countdown directly on your storefront. This guide walks you through everything you need to set up an Inline countdown timer, from configuration to going live on your store.
Navigate to Countdown Timer
From your Boost AI Search & Discovery dashboard, go to Merchandising > Sell More > Countdown Timer.
Create a new timer
On the Countdown Timer dashboard, click + Add New Timer.
Select timer layout
Choose the Inline layout and click Next.
The setup is divided into two steps: Timer Settings and Timer Design.
Timer Settings
Countdown Name: Give your timer a clear, recognizable name. This name appears on the dashboard to help you manage multiple timers. It is not shown to shoppers.
Placement: Choose where the inline timer will appear on your store. You can select one or more of the following:
Placement | Description |
Product page (All products) | Displays the timer on all product pages across your store. |
Specific products | Shows the timer only on selected product pages (up to 20 products). |
Specific collections | Applies the timer to all products within selected collections (up to 3 collections). |
Cart page (coming soon) | Shows the timer on the shopping cart page. |
Cart drawer (coming soon) | Displays the timer inside the slide-out cart drawer. |
πͺ Tips for Specific products and Specific collections:
When you select Specific products, a product search bar appears. Click it to open the product selector. You must select at least 1 product and no more than 20.
When you select Specific collections, a collection dropdown appears. You must select at least 1 collection and no more than 3.
If all selected products or collections are removed, a warning appears asking you to add at least one.
Timer Type: Select the countdown behavior that best fits your promotion.
Countdown to a Date. Count down to a specific end date and time. Great for flash sales, limited-time offers, or seasonal promotions.
Set a Start date and End date. Dates in the past are not allowed, and the end date must be after the start date.
Once it ends, choose what happens when the timer reaches zero:
Unpublish and disable timer: the timer is automatically hidden from your store.
Do nothing: the timer disappears from the storefront but remains in your dashboard.
Fixed Minutes. Show a personal countdown for each shopper based on their browsing session. Ideal for per-visitor urgency (for example, "You have 30 minutes to complete your order!").
The timer is tied to each shopper's session:
For logged-out visitors: the timer starts when they first land on your store and continues as they browse, refresh, or switch tabs in the same browser. It resets if they return from a different device or browser, or after a long absence.
For logged-in customers: the timer is linked to their account and persists across devices and browsers as long as they remain signed in.
Once it ends, choose what happens when the timer expires:
Repeat the countdown: the timer restarts automatically.
Unpublish and disable timer
Do nothing
Daily Recurring Timer. Display a countdown during a fixed time window every day. Perfect for daily deals or recurring flash sales.
Set a Start time and End time (for example, 9 AM to 10 AM).
The end time must be later than the start time within the same day.
Both fields are required.
Timer Status
Status | Description |
Active | The timer is live and visible on your storefront. |
Draft | The timer is saved but hidden from shoppers. |
π‘ You can switch the status at any time from the dashboard.
Timer design
Customize how your inline timer looks. A live preview on the right updates in real time as you make changes.
Use the Preview dropdown at the top to switch between views: Product page, Cart page, and Cart drawer.
General Settings
Field | Default value | Description |
Header | Hurry up! | The main headline shown above the timer. |
Upsell title | Sale ends in: | The subheading shown just above the countdown numbers. |
Timer labels | Days, Hrs, Mins, Secs | Labels displayed under each countdown unit. |
Call to action | No call to action | Add a button or make the entire bar clickable. |
Call to action options
No call to action: the timer is display-only with no link.
Button: adds a clickable button. Set the button text (default: Shop now) and a destination link (default: your store URL). Both fields are required.
Make entire bar clickable: the full timer bar becomes a link redirecting shoppers to a URL you specify.
Style settings
Customize the look and feel of your timer to match your brand:
Click any color swatch to open the hex color palette and pick a custom color.
Font size fields only accept numeric values. Leaving a required field blank shows a validation warning.
Click the Font dropdown to choose from available font options.
All changes are reflected instantly in the live preview.
Add the Countdown Timer to your live theme
After saving your timer settings and design, complete a one-time setup to display the timer on your storefront. Follow the step-by-step guide on the screen, then click I'm all done.
β Once all steps are completed, your inline countdown timer is live on your store.

How timers are prioritized
If you have multiple timers set up for overlapping placements, the system decides which one to show based on these rules:
The most recently updated or created timer takes priority for any overlapping placement.
Timers with different placements (for example, one for all products, another for a specific collection) can coexist. Each applies to its own scope.
Timers of different layout types (for example, Inline vs. Top/Bottom bar) do not conflict. They can be shown simultaneously.
Examples:
Timer A targets all product pages (created Jan 15); Timer B targets all product pages (created Jan 16). Timer B is shown.
Timer A targets all product pages (Jan 15); Timer B targets Collection A only (Jan 16). Timer B is shown for Collection A; Timer A is shown for all other products.
Timer A is an Inline timer for product pages; Timer B is a Top/Bottom bar for product pages. Both are shown, as they are different layout types.
