Overview

Create rules with precise conditions (e.g., title, vendor, price) to change how matching products are ranked. When a rule’s conditions are met, product order updates automatically. You can also limit a rule to a specific collection.
Example: Show all white t‑shirts at the top when shoppers search “t‑shirt.”

You can have a look at our visual instructions on how to use this feature here.

Create merchandising rules

  1. In the app, go to Merchandising → Rule‑based merchandising and click + Add.

  2. Rule name: Enter a clear name.

  3. Collections: Select a collection to scope the rule, or leave blank to apply to all products.

  4. Ranking: Choose High / Medium / Low (matching products are placed accordingly in results).

  5. Conditions: Choose All conditions (AND) or Any conditions (OR).

  6. Under Product attributes, add one or more conditions. Supported attributes:

    • Product title, Product type, Product vendor, Product price, Product inventory, Product tag, Date added, Date published

  7. Conductor (operator): pick how to compare the field—e.g.,

    • Title: starts with / ends with / contains / equals

    • Date fields: equals / not equal / less than / greater than

  8. Values: Enter the value for this condition (one value per condition row).

    • Need multiple values (e.g., titles starting with b and c)? Add another condition.

  9. Click Save, then test your search to review ordering.

Manage merchandising rules

  • Turn on/off: Toggle a rule in Merchandising → Rule‑based merchandising.

  • Set priority: Drag and drop rules to reorder; rules higher in the list have greater impact on product arrangement.

  • Edit: Click Edit to change name, scope, ranking, or conditions; Save when done.

  • Delete: Click the trash icon to remove a rule permanently.
