📖 Prioritize, boost, or demote a single product in the Instant search dropdown and search results—on top of the default ranking.

Overview

⚠️ This feature works with Boost AI Search & Discovery V1 & V2. To find out which version of our app you are using, please follow this article.

When to use

  • Highlight sale or high‑margin items.

  • Run short‑term campaigns for specific products.

  • Push low‑performing items down the list.

Prerequisites

  • Sorting = Relevance is enabled on search results pages.

  • Feature path: Merchandising → Product ranking.

Set a product’s ranking

⚠️ This feature only works when you enable Relevance sorting on search results pages.

  1. In the app, go to Merchandising → Product ranking.

  2. Find the product (browse or search by title or product ID).

  3. In the Ranking dropdown, choose one option:

    • No ranking — no custom position.

    • Always prioritized — pin this product to the top for any query.

    • Matched search — show first when it matches the shopper’s query
(e.g., “Rebecca Lace Turtleneck Top” appears first for “turtleneck”).

    • Keyword search — show first for specific queries only.

      • In Add search key (in the Date range column), enter a comma‑separated list of trigger terms (e.g., t-shirt to surface “Daisy t‑shirt”).

    • At the bottom — send the product to the end of the results (use to demote).

  4. Set Date range to control how long the ranking applies, then click Apply.

    • Use No time limit for always‑on behavior.

  5. Click Save ranking.

  6. Use Ranking ▼ to sort ranked products by priority and adjust your list.

How ranking interacts with other rules

⚠️ Product ranking increases visibility without hiding other relevant results—customers can still find what they’re looking for.

  • If a product has Product ranking and also meets Rule‑based merchandising conditions, Product ranking takes precedence.

  • Display order for ranked items:

    1. Always prioritized

    2. Matched search

    3. Keyword search
