Upgrade note

As you know, after the release of Boost AI 3.0, we have big steps to improve our new Search and Merchandising. If you are currently using the old Search and Merchandising and want to upgrade to the new search version, please keep the following in mind:

  • Upgrading the search engine will affect all

    • Search features include Instant search display, Search page display, Suggestion dictionary, Search settings, Synonyms, Stop words and Redirects.

    • Merchandising features include Product Ranking, Rule-based Merchandising, and Product Visibility.

  • Some rules will expire in the new version, meaning that the current settings on the old features will disappear or reset to default after upgrading. However, we promise that the new version will be easier to customize and more powerful than the old one.

  • Once you upgrade the new search and merchandising versions, you cannot revert it.

⚠️IMPORTANT NOTE (MUST READ)⚠️

Main risks of upgrading search engine

Upgrades to search engines present the following risks:

  1. If you are utilizing all the merchandising features and wish to upgrade the search engine, you will be required to upgrade to the new merchandising. Additionally, it is important to understand the risks involved with upgrading the merchandising system.

  2. After upgrading the search engine, all current settings will be retained, except for the Search fields and In-collection search settings, which will be reset to their default values. Additionally, the Fuzzy search setup will no longer exist in the new version.

  3. The merchandising and search functionality cannot be reverted once it has been upgraded.

What can you do to decrease the risks of upgrading your search engine?

  1. Double-check both the search and merchandising features before upgrading. You can also preview the new merchandising and try setting it up early to reduce the risk of losing any current settings.

  2. Our new search engine is smarter and can display the most relevant search terms at the top without manually setting them up for Search Fields and In-Collection Search. However, if you want to keep your old settings, review and note them down in case you want to set the same settings again later.

  3. Understand the risks of upgrading both the new search engine and merchandising.

How to upgrade to the new search version

  1. Go to the app's admin page, select one sub-menu search, and click the "Upgrade search engine" button on the banner.

2. On the "Switch to new search engine" popup, click the "Switch to new search engine" button.

3. Wait for the switching process to complete. A banner that reads Upgraded Successfully will be displayed when it is done.

4. After the upgrade is successful, the new search will be shown.

Preview new merchandising

If you are still using the old merchandising version with three sub-menus (Product Ranking, Rule-based Merchandising, and Product Visibility), it's time to upgrade to the new merchandising version.

We have a feature called "Explore and Set Up New Visual Merchandising" which allows you to try out new settings for visual merchandising. To explore new visual merchandising, you can follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Go to app’s admin > Merchandising > Click button “Explore and set up new Visual Merchandising” or “Set up Visual Merchandising” on these banners > Go to the new merchandising interface.

  • Step 2: Try to set up a new merchandising rule

The first thing you see when going to Visual Merchandising is the rule listing page. The rule listing page is divided into two tabs “Commerce Search” and “Collection Page”. To learn how to create merchandising rules for the new version, please refer to the Visual Merchandising overview.

Your configuration changes will not take effect until you upgrade the feature. Your settings on new visual merchandising will still be saved after upgrading.

💡 You should try to finish all setup merchandising rules before switch the version to make sure the new version works well.

How to upgrade from current merchandising to the new merchandising

To upgrade from old merchandising to new visual merchandising:

  1. Go to the app’s admin > Merchandising > click the button “Upgrade to new version” on the banner.

  2. On the popup “Switch to new merchandising”, click the “Switch to new merchandising” button.

  3. Wait for the switching process to complete. The banner "Upgraded Successfully" will be displayed when it is done.

  4. After the upgrade is successful, the new merchandising will be shown. If you have set any rules in the preview merchandising, they will also be applied to this version.

Some rules from the old version can be matched to the new version, but not all rules can be. The merchant will need to manually update the new version. Here is some rule that can match between 2 versions:
