📖 Boost Commerce’s new Merchandising feature is designed to give store owners even more refined control over how their products appear in their stores, making it easier to set rules for product positioning and improving the overall user experience.

⚠️ This article only works for Boost AI Search & Discovery V2 and above. To find out which version of our app your store's current theme is installed with, please follow this article.

Overview of new features and improvements

Streamlined and Intuitive UI/UX

All Merchandising settings are centralized in one tool. You can switch between settings easily and see the conditions and outcomes of each rule.

Highly customizable & enhanced merchandising settings

  • Stronger emphasis on keyword‑based search relevance—not just a fixed list of pinned items.

  • Build adaptable strategies (Pin, Boost, Demote, Hide, Filter) by choosing conditions and defining how the rule changes your storefront.

  • Filter strategy to refine results and promote specific products (ideal for campaigns).

  • Create multiple rule conditions using diverse product attributes (e.g., vendor, product title)—not only tags.

  • Specify a date range for any rule to align with your marketing calendar or seasonal promotions.

Improved search efficiency

The updated Merchandising feature is optimized for faster responses, helping customers find the right products more quickly and improving overall UX.

Merchandising strategies

Our app allows you to create up to five merchandising strategies.

💡 The strategies are set in the priority order (highest to lowest)

Hide > Banner > Pin > Filter> Demote > Boost.

Pin Products

Fix one or more products at the top of search or collections (e.g., high‑margin items you want seen first).

Boost Products

Elevate items dynamically using attributes like price, vendor, or tags (e.g., bring high‑margin products higher in organic results).

Demote Products

Push lower‑performing items down the results (e.g., products with poor reviews or low conversion).

Hide Products

Remove products from search results and collection pages based on attributes (e.g., hide items with low engagement or out‑of‑season goods).

Filter Products

Narrow results to highlight specific items (e.g., during Christmas, show women’s dresses in red and green only).

Banner

Use on‑site images that link to products or landing pages to drive cross‑sells and highlight campaigns. Visuals help guide shoppers and increase visibility.
