📖 Control which suggested queries appear first in your Instant search dropdown.
Overview
When to use
You want key phrases (e.g., cowboy hat) to rank above others (e.g., bucket hat) in autocomplete.
You need consistent suggestions, not just those inferred from analytics or store data.
Prerequisites
Instant search widget is enabled.
Popular suggestions component is turned on.
How autocomplete search displays popular suggestions
Autocomplete orders suggestions by priority and source:
Priority levels
High → shown first
Medium → shown after High
Low → shown last (or disable to hide completely)
Source order
Suggestion Dictionary — High
Suggestion Dictionary — Medium
Analytics data — Medium (top ~500; auto‑cleans after ~3 months)
Original store data — Medium (auto‑cleans after ~3 months)
Suggestion Dictionary — Low
💡 The engine also uses other relevance algorithms, but Suggestion Dictionary outranks other sources at the same priority.
