Shopify Sidekick with Boost AI Search & Discovery

Ask Shopify's Sidekick assistant about your Boost analytics and jump straight to the page where you can act on what you find.

Written by Thomas Ta

📖 Sidekick is Shopify's built-in AI assistant. With the Boost integration, you can ask about your Boost analytics in plain language, and jump straight to the page where you can act on what you find.

  • You need Boost AI Search & Discovery installed on your Shopify store.

  • Sidekick reads your analytics only. It cannot change your Boost settings or create anything for you. It points you to the right page in Boost, where you make and save the change yourself.

  • Sidekick is a Shopify feature. If you do not see the Sidekick button in your admin, check with Shopify whether it is available on your store.

Open Sidekick and ask your first question

  1. In your Shopify admin, click the Sidekick button in the top-right corner of the navigation.

  2. The chat panel opens on the right of your screen.

  3. Type your question about your Boost analytics.

  4. The first time you ask, Sidekick requests your consent to access your Boost data. Click Yes to continue, or Yes, and don't ask again so it does not ask next time.

💪 There is nothing to set up in Boost. Once the app is installed on your store, Sidekick can answer questions about your analytics straight away.

What you can ask

Ask in plain language. Sidekick works out which report to read.

Ask about

Example questions

App impact

The revenue and results Boost drives across search, filters and recommendations. Same data as Getting App Impact Analytics.

How much revenue did Boost drive this month?

What's Boost's conversion rate and average order value?

Search

What shoppers search for and how search performs: top searches, click and conversion rates, searches with no clicks, searches with no results, and which products perform best or worst. Same data as Getting Search Analytics.

What are my top searches this week?

Which search terms returned no results?

Which products perform best in search this month?

Filters and collections

How your collection pages and filters perform: top collections, filter usage and the most-used filter values. Same data as Getting Collection Analytics.

Which filters do shoppers use most?

What are my top collections by revenue?

Recommendations

How your recommendation widgets perform by page, widget and product. Same data as Getting Recommendation Analytics.

How are my recommendation widgets performing?

What are my top recommended products?

Choosing a time range

Ask over any window from 1 to 365 days, either a preset such as the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or specific dates.

  • Top searches in the last 30 days

  • Boost revenue from 1 June to 1 July

⚠️ How far back you can see depends on your Boost plan. If you ask for a longer range than your plan covers, Sidekick returns data up to your plan's limit and tells you it has done so.

Acting on what you find

Sidekick reads your analytics and points you to the right page in Boost. It never creates or edits anything on its own, so you always set up and save the change yourself.

Fix searches that return no results

When you ask about searches that returned no results, Sidekick can suggest adding a synonym so those searches start showing the right products, and link you to the synonyms page in your Boost app admin. It does not create or pre-fill the synonym, you set it up and save it there.

  • Ask Which search terms returned no results? and Sidekick suggests fixing them with a synonym, with a link to the page.

To set one up, follow How to enable Synonym search.

Set up search merchandising

When you ask about a particular search query, Sidekick can suggest setting up search merchandising for it, and link you to the merchandising page in your Boost app admin. You choose the strategy and save the rule there.

  • Ask Promote my best products for 'running shoes' and Sidekick suggests search merchandising, with a link to the page.

To build the rule, follow Merchandising Rules for Commerce Search.

Good to know

  • Sidekick reads, it does not change anything. It answers questions and points you to the right page. Your Boost settings are only ever changed by you.

  • Your analytics refresh once a day. Very recent activity, and any changes you have just made in Boost, appear after the next refresh.

  • How much history you get depends on your plan. See Boost plan.

  • English only for now.

  • If Sidekick cannot pull your data, it tells you and asks you to contact our support team from the Boost app.

Feel free to reach out to our dedicated support team via chat if you have any questions or require additional assistance.
