⚠️ A template linked to multiple themes will apply its UI changes to all associated themes. For separate customization, duplicate the template and link it individually to each theme.

Duplicate

Click the three-dot icon menu on the right side of a template > Select Duplicate. A clone version of the original template will be added to your library with "Copy of" added before its original name.

⚠️ Your library can hold up to 25 templates. If this limit is reached, the Duplicate option will be disabled. To add new templates, please remove any that are not in use.

Clone Template

🚧 Beta: This feature is currently rolled out to a specific set of stores. If you don't see the Copy to another store option in the template action menu, please contact Boost Support to request access.

The Clone Template feature lets you copy a template from one Shopify store to another in just a few clicks. You no longer need to rebuild the same template from scratch in every store. Generate a one-time code (OTP) in the source store, then enter it in the destination store to bring the template across.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • Access to both stores. You need to be logged in to the source store (where the template currently lives) and the destination store (where you want the template to be copied).

  • The destination Store ID. The format must be storename.myshopify.com (for example, my-other-store.myshopify.com).

  • Template capacity in the destination store. Each store has a 25-template limit. If the destination store is already at 25/25, the import will fail.

Clone a template from the source store

Start in the store that already has the template you want to copy.

Step 1. Open the Template Library. In the app admin, go to Integration > Shopify Integration > Manage Template.

Step 2. Open the action menu. Find the template you want to copy. Click the ... (more actions) icon on the template row, then select Copy to another store.

Step 3. Enter the destination Store ID. A modal titled Clone Template to Another Store opens.

  1. In the Destination Store ID field, enter the destination store's .myshopify.com domain (for example, my-other-store.myshopify.com).

  2. Click Send OTP.

Step 4. Get your 6-digit OTP. Once the form is submitted successfully, the modal switches to the Your export OTP screen showing a 6-digit one-time code.

⚠️ Important OTP rules

  • Validity: the OTP is valid for 10 minutes from the moment it is generated.

  • Single use: each OTP works only once. After a successful import, it expires immediately.

  • Re-checking the code: if the OTP is still valid and you click Copy to another store again on the same template, the same OTP is shown. You don't need to generate a new one.

Click Got it, thanks! to close the modal, then switch to the destination store within 10 minutes to complete the import.

Part 2: Import the template in the destination store

Within 10 minutes of generating the OTP, switch to the destination store to complete the import.

Step 1. Open the Template Library. In the destination store's app admin, go to Integration > Shopify Integration > Manage Template.

Step 2. Open the import flow. Click Import template at the top of the Template Library page. The Import Template via OTP modal opens.

Step 3. Enter the OTP. Enter the 6-digit OTP from the source store, then click Import Template.

📝 Note: If the OTP has expired, go back to the source store and generate a new one.

Step 4. Confirm the template was added. The import starts once the destination Store ID and the OTP are matched. Once the import finishes, the cloned template appears in the destination store's Template Library.

💡 Tip: To make sure the imported template works correctly, integrate it with a theme to see how it looks on the storefront.

Rename

Click the three-dot icon menu on the right side of a template > Select Edit Name. You can change the name in the Edit template name popup > then click the Save button.

⚠️ The maximum number of characters allowed is 50.

Remove

Click the three-dot icon menu on the right side of a template > Select Remove to delete it from your library > click Remove again to confirm your decision.

⚠️ Templates linked to your live theme cannot be removed. Deleting a template also removes its link from any associated unpublished themes, with a prompt for confirmation.

Change

Click the three-dot icon menu on the right side of a template in the list > select Change to switch the current template to a new one > click Yes to confirm.

⚠️ This option is not available for your Current template.

💡 Once you update the template, the corresponding template ID within our core application will automatically refresh to align with your new selection. Verify the updated ID by navigating to the Go to Boost Core option.

Add new template

Click the Add new template button in the upper right corner to add more templates to your Library.

Afterward, follow the steps from Choose your template to finish adding a new template.

Update template

To access Template Library, go to our app Dashboard > Integration menu > Template libary.

When an update is available, click the notification under your preferred template to start the updating process.

Click Add latest version to start updating or View release notes to see what's new from our update.

⚠️ When you update your template, any customizations you've made using the Visual Editor will be carried over to the new version. This includes changes to:

  • Changing Visual Editor settings

  • Altering page layouts, such as adding, reordering, removing, or hiding elements or sections

  • Creating new layouts

  • Making changes to wording on your online store using the Visual Editor

⚠️ Important

If you have made any custom code changes directly in the Code Editor that may conflict with the new theme version, please be aware that these customizations will not be automatically carried over to the updated template. To ensure your custom code is preserved, you will need to manually copy these changes to the new theme version after the update.
